Zako (ザコ) (Also known asa Zako Bee) is a recurring enemy from the Galaga series. They are large, insectoid enemies debuting in the original Galaga game, and resemble massive bees with blue wings and yellow-red stripes.
Mechanics[]
This bug appears in many games in the Galaga series. Their job is to chase the ship (Gyaraga) and bring it down.
Galaga[]
In Galaga, Zako make up the bottom two rows of the enemy formation. They will periodically break from the formation and swoop down at the player, trying to shoot and/or ram their ship. sometimes, Zako will loop back up and try to ram the player again before exiting the bottom of the screen.
Zako are known to transform into a triplet of either Galaxian Flagships, Scorpions, or Midori, which then swoop down at the player. This event happens once per round.
Galaga Wars[]
Zako appear in Galaga Wars, simply known as Bees. They shoot the player with single laser blasts.
Zako first appear in Sector 1 and have a base value of 10 points.
While they are in a big formation, they almost never dive at the player, instead choosing to act as stationary gunners, shooting at the player, so it's best to try to take them out first before dealing with any more threats in the wave.
